WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – In his first address to the nation since dropping out of the 2024 race President Joe Biden told voters it’s now time for them to do their part to preserve democracy this November.
In his address President Biden said while he thought his record may have warranted a second term ultimately, he stepped aside because the stakes are too high.
“I’ve given my heart and my soul to this nation,” said Biden.
After more than 50 years in public service President Biden says he’s passing the torch to the next generation.
The president called on voters to turn out this November to preserve democracy.
“The great thing about America is here, kings and dictators do not rule, the people do. History is in your hands. The power is in your hands. The idea of America lies in your hands,” Biden said.
President Biden endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris shortly after dropping out of the race says his VP is fully capable of filling his shoes.
With just over 100 days until the election the vice president is wasting no time.
“We are not playing around,” said Harris.
Harris traveled to Indianapolis Wednesday to rally support from members of the of the Black sorority Zeta Phi Beta in Indianapolis.
“I am fighting for our nation’s future,” said Harris.
At a rally in North Carolina Donald Trump bashed his new opponent.
“Lyin’ Kamala Harris, lyin’, l, y, i, n, apostrophe. The most incompetent and far left vice president in American history,” said Trump.
Trump made it clear he’s ready to put up a fight.
“I was supposed to be nice. They say something happened to me when I got shot. I became nice…When you’re dealing with them, you can’t be too nice,” said Trump.
President Biden says he will use the remainder of his time in office to focus on passing policies to help the American public.
