WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – A jury of 12 people was seated Thursday in former president Donald Trump’s history-making hush money trial, moving the proceedings closer to opening statements and the start of weeks of dramatic testimony.
Former President Trump says he would rather be out on the campaign trail but for now, he’s back in court and in a rare response we’re hearing from President Biden about Trump’s legal problems.
The court will move forward with trying to pick five more jury alternates.
“The whole world is watching this New York scam,” said Trump.
Outside the courtroom Trump showed off a stack of favorable news headlines while blasting the judge, the Manhattan D.A. and the proceedings.
“You’ve got a deer that’s out of control. You have a judge who is highly conflicted,” said Trump.
In an exclusive interview with President Biden this week he talked about Trump’s constant attacks.
“His lack of ethics has nothing to do with me. I have nothing. I’ve not once talked to anyone in my administration about Trump’s real problems. A lot of that occurred well before I became president,” said Biden.
The judge says opening statements could begin as soon as Monday.
