WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – Both Democrats and Republicans on Capitol Hill are speaking out about the Biden administration’s handling of the Israel- Hamas war.

Maryland Democratic Senator Chris Van Hollen says the Biden administration needs to be tougher on Israel.

“We have a situation where Netanyahu continues to essentially, you know, give the finger. So, the president and we’re sending more bombs that don’t make sense,” said Van Hollen.

Van Hollen says it’s time the Biden administration uses its leverage to get them to change course in Gaza.

“My view is that a partnership needs to be a two-way street. Not a one-way blank check with the American taxpayer dollars,” said Van Hollen.

The White House is trying to convince Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to find an alternative method for the planned ground invasion into Rafah, the southernmost city of Gaza.

Florida Republican Senator Rick Scott disagrees and says they must do whatever it takes to defeat Hamas.

“They have to destroy Hamas. They need America’s support,” said Scott.

Scott accuses President Biden of not standing with Israel.

“I mean, this is disgusting with the Biden administration supporting Israel, they have got to kill Hamas,” said Scott.

Scott’s comments come as the White House is still working to meet with Israeli military officials.
