WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – President-elect Donald Trump is already busy staffing up his next White House.
The president-elect will be in Washington, D.C., later this week to meet in the Oval Office with President Biden but he’s wasting no time announcing some of the biggest picks for his next administration.
President-elect Donald Trump announced his choice to take charge of the nation’s borders giving Tom Homan the title of “border czar.”
“To the millions of illegal aliens that Joe Biden’s released in our country in violation of federal law: you better start packing now,” said Homan.
Homan served as the acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Trump’s last administration.
Trump also announced his longtime adviser Stephen Miller will be his deputy chief of policy.
“We can be a country that doesn’t let illegal aliens violate our borders and kill and murder American children,” said Miller.
Miller most notably crafted the Trump-era policy to separate thousands of immigrant families as a deterrence program.
Trump is also nominating one of his most loyal allies in Congress, New York Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, to serve as his ambassador to the United Nations.
“President Donald Trump is the leader the American people need,” said Stefanik.
The president-elect also issued a key demand to Senate Republicans as they choose their next leader.
Trump wants to be able to make recess appointments which would let him fast-track many of his picks without Senate approval.
While votes are still being counted to determine control of the House Democrats like Washington Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal say they’re not waiting for the results to prepare for defense.
“We’re going to continue to see a number of people with disturbing histories being appointed to many of these positions,” said Jayapal.
Israel’s president will also be in Washington this week and just announced he will be meeting with Stefanik as well.
