We are in the middle of a large/cold air mass that started moving in yesterday. It was cold this morning with temps in the 20s and 30s. However, the winds were also up. So the wind chills were in the low-mid 20s. A cold front has moved well offshore, and high pressure is building in from the west.
There is still an area of low pressure in the northeast states. This is causing more snow to fall in that region. With the high pressure building closer to us, we have the winds picking up out of the northwest today. They will run at 10-20mph with gusts to 25mph. There will be a few gusts to 30mph near the shore. This will keep high temps down in the mid-upper 40s despite fair skies. Wind chills will be in the 20s and 30s today. Tonight we’ll be mostly clear. The wind will stay up a bit out of the northwest (10-15mph). Temps will drop down to the 20s over most of the region. This will put the wind chills down to the teens and low 20s. Then tomorrow we’ll have a lighter westerly breeze. We’ll have a lot of sunshine, but temps will only be able to reach the upper 40s to near 50 degrees. We will warm up on Friday into the upper 50s. Skies will be partly cloudy. Then we’ll really warm up over the weekend. Deep southerly winds will put our highs in the mid-upper 60s on Saturday. We’ll be in the low 70s on Sunday. This morning the GFS MOS data spit out a high of 80 degrees for Sunday. I’m not going to go that warm yet, but I have trended it upward from yesterday. We’ll probably stay mild on Monday, but we will have some cooling by the middle of next week. Stay tuned for updates.
