We are coming off of a nice Easter Sunday.
It was great out for most of Sunday with lots of fresh air, and dry conditions. There were a few spotty showers later in the day as a weak area of low pressure developed offshore. This low is going to impact us today with a mix of sun and clouds, and also some spotty showers.
High pressure is off to the west. This should kick out the low later today. So we’ll clear out from the late afternoon into the evening. High temps will rise to the upper 60s to low 70s. The wind will be out of the northwest at 10mph. This is important as it will allow the water levels in southern Virginia Beach to go down. The level almost made it up to 3ft at Dawley Corners yesterday. Today it should drop to 1.5ft.
After watching it for the last year and a half, I put flooding levels there starting at about 1 – 1.5ft. So most roads should be passable by tonight.
Tomorrow, we’ll have lots of sunshine with high temps near 80. By Wednesday, there will be a cool front moving into the region. This will bring a few showers to the area. Highs in will be in the 70s. We’ll be dry and mild on Thursday. Then we’ll have some scattered rain showers on Friday. It’s still a little early to detail the weather for next weekend for the Something in the Water festival and the launch of the new Avengers movie. I’ll have more details on that forecast over the next couple of days.

Before I go. The National Weather Service did determine that several tornadoes had touched down over the region last Friday evening. Here is a link to the latest tracks and info from NWS Wakefield: NWS tornado tracks. They may find evidence of another tornado or two today as they check a couple more locations.
