The month of March has been a very typical Spring. We have seen a wide variation of weather, from cold and rainy to hot and sunny. When we’re in between winter and summer, that’s exactly what happens! The jet stream is constantly moving which shifts our weather pattern a lot. Here’s how the month of March has gone so far temperature wise:

Although we have seen a lot of the extremes, really hot and really cold, it all averages out to basically normal. Today is one of those extremely warm days. Highs this afternoon will top off in the upper 70s! Hope you can head outside and enjoy the nice weather, because it once again changes for tomorrow.

We’ll have a cold front move through in the afternoon and this will bring us some scattered showers. It doesn’t look like it’ll be a washout but I can’t rule out a few heavy downpours, maybe an isolated thunderstorm in NE NC. It looks like it will move out around dinner time, and we’ll be dry through the overnight. We’ll see less than a quarter of an inch of rain from that system. But unfortunately behind that front comes colder air and gusty winds to start off the work week! The warm and sunny weather comes to an end.. for now. It looks like it will return later into next week.

Enjoy the sunshine today! -Meteorologist Casey Lehecka
