Not the best, but not the worst weekend on record.  We did dodge some raindrops from time to time, but at least the weekend wasn’t a washout.  This afternoon, we have been tracking some heavy downpours across northeast North Carolina courtesy of a stalled front.  Some of the heaviest rain has been across the Outer Banks, specifically near Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, and Nags Head.  A FLASH FLOOD WARNING was put in effect due to street flooding from back-building storms.

Here are a few pictures from Kill Devil Hills (S.Memorial Blvd/E.Atlantic St) sent in from our viewer, Steve Slagle:

Roughly, 2-5″ of rain fell within a few hours.

This stalled front will start to lift north as a warm front tomorrow, so that means we will be tracking on and off showers across our entire viewing area.

Once again, we’ll be watching out for some isolated downpours that could lead to some localized flooding.  It’ll cooler with highs near 80°..a little cooler near the coast due to a light onshore breeze.

With this unsettled pattern hanging around, expect a few passing showers on Tuesday as well….and then more Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.  No day looks like a complete washout – there will be breaks of sunshine at times, especially through the second half of the week.  Speaking of breaks (or lack thereof), the high humidity won’t break.  Dewpoints will remain in the 70s for the next seven days.  I have my fingers crossed that we’ll at least drop the shower chances for next weekend.

In the meantime….stay dry!
