As expected we had a cold start to the day. Temps bottomed out in the 20s across the region this morning. However, we will have a nice warmup as we go into the afternoon. High pressure was over the region, and it will slowly move offshore this afternoon.
This will allow the winds to pick up a little out of the south. So high temps will rise up to the low-mid 50s later today. Meanwhile an area of low pressure will be forming over Texas. We’ll be out ahead of it tomorrow. Lots of moisture will stream up from the south. Also a warm front will try to move in from the southeast. While it won’t be a washout. We will have scattered rain showers on and off through the day.
We’ll have a southeast breeze through the day. High temps will rise into the low 60s. As the low gets closer Thursday night the area of rain will increase in coverage. We could have some heavy rain Thursday night with even some isolated thunderstorms.
Some of this will continue into Friday morning. The low will move through Friday. Warm air will wrap into the system. High temps will be in the mid-upper 60s. We’ll have more on and off showers through the day. We could see a couple of inches of rain before it wraps up Friday night. Some spots could see over 3″, but we’ll see. The low will kick out on Saturday, but there will only be gradual clearing as the upper level low hangs back. There may even be a stray shower, but overall it will be a drier day. High temps will be in the upper 50s. It should be good for travel. We’ll be dry and mild on Sunday.
At this time things look good for the upcoming holidays. The models are dry for Christmas Eve and Christmas day. Highs are currently aiming for the 50s. Stay tuned for updates and future details.
