(WAVY) — A new video released by NASA Wednesday showed a “stark and sobering” view of Hurricane Florence captured aboard the International Space Station.

The video showed Florence’s massive size as the space station passes by on its orbit. It was captured at 7:50 a.m.

NASA noted Wednesday in its hurricane blog that the storm was over 400 miles in diameter — or roughly the distance from Baltimore, Maryland to Boston, Massachusetts.

According to NASA, Florence  has the “capability to generate very heavy rainfall over a large area.” The dangerous Category 4 hurricane is forecast to make landfall in Carolinas on Friday.
