Virginia is holding general and special elections on Nov. 5, 2024. Polling hours are from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Election Day. First day of in-person early voting at your local registrar’s office is Friday, Sept. 20, 2024.

Virginia voters will see six presidential candidates on their ballots: frontrunners Kamala Harris (D) and Donald J. Trump (R), Green party candidate Jill E. Stein, Libertarian candidate Chase R. Oliver and Independent candidates Claudia De la Cruz and Cornel R. West. The winner of the race in Virginia will receive 13 electoral votes.

One of Virginia’s two US Senate seats is on the ballot. All of Virginia’s 11 House of Representatives seats are up for election this November. A proposed constitutional amendment on property tax exemption will be voted on statewide. And there is a long list of local candidates. 10 On Your Side has listed the contested races (meaning there are at least two people running) in the largest cities in the WAVY viewing area. The local elections are listed in alphabetical order, by locality. Click here for the complete list of local candidates on the Virginia State Board of Elections website.

Click on the candidate’s image or name to view their WAVY.com profile. If a candidate’s profile includes a bio, that came directly from the candidate and is unedited. If there is a bio, but no image, we didn’t receive signed approval for an image to add to their profile. Localities listed below include at least one candidate who responded to WAVY’s questions.
