NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A suspect accused of firing a gun at a 7-Eleven store clerk was arrested Wednesday in Newport News.
Police said Rondale Claud was arrested July 10. This is nearly a week after officers named him as a suspect in the incident.
The clerk, a 32-year-old, told officers in late-June that a group of males shot at her at a store on 25h Street and Jefferson Avenue.
Police said the woman reported four males were in a vehicle outside, when one of them shot at her and the others fired their guns into the air before fleeing the scene. No one was injured in the incident.
Claud is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, petit larceny, shooting in a public place, reckless handling of a firearm, brandishing a firearm and misdemeanor assault.
