PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Two local NFL players are each waking up this morning with another Super Bowl ring.

Virginia Beach’s Derrick Nnadi and Suffolk’s Cole Christiansen are on the Chiefs team that took down the 49ers 25-22 on Sunday night in overtime.

Christiansen, a Nansemond-Suffolk grad, played special teams on Sunday and was involved in a key moment in the game. With 2:42 to go in the third quarter, he helped teammate Jaylen Watson recover a muffed punt that set up a touchdown drive.

This is the second Super Bowl ring overall for Christiansen, who first joined Kansas City last year as a practice squad member.

Meanwhile this is the third Super Bowl win for Nnadi, a 27-year-old defensive tackle who played high school ball at Ocean Lakes. He’s been injured and didn’t play on Sunday, but has been a key contributor over their run in recent years.

He continues to do charitable work both in the Kansas City region and at home in Hampton Roads, including helping shelter dogs get adopted.
